Reconciliation and Payouts#
Once we collect a payment, we hold it until we pay it out to your user's bank account. For how payouts work and what's in them, see reconciling payouts.
Your integration needs to do two things:
- Mark transactions as paid.
- Help your user reconcile each payout.
1. Mark transactions as paid#
When you receive a payment confirmed event, we've collected the payment. Mark the transaction as paid.
A paid transaction can still change. Late failures and chargebacks can happen after a payment is confirmed. Keep listening for payment events, and update the transaction if they happen. For what to show your user, see when payments go wrong.
2. Help your user reconcile each payout#
When a payment is included in a payout, you receive a payment paid_out webhook. Save the payout ID from the event's links.payout against the payment, so your user can see which payout each payment arrived in. Then, when you receive the payout paid webhook, use the payout items API to show what's in it. Show the fees too, so your user can record them as expenses.
Your revenue share and app fees#
You earn 10% of the GoCardless fees on payments your users collect through your integration. It's paid into your own payouts as revenue_share items, and deducted again if a payment fails late or is charged back. To set up a revenue share, contact the partnerships team.
Instead of a revenue share, you can charge app fees on top of GoCardless fees. They can't be more than 50% of a payment, and you can't have both. If you charge app fees, show your users how much they are.
To receive either, verify your own GoCardless account so we can pay you out.
