# Recurring Payments

Once you have an active mandate, GoCardless supports several models for collecting recurring payments:

- **Subscriptions** — Fixed amount on a regular schedule (weekly, monthly, etc.).
- **Instalment schedules** — A defined series of payments, each with its own amount and date.
- **Variable Recurring Payments (VRP)** — Open Banking-powered payments where the amount varies within agreed limits, without re-authorisation for each charge.
- **Instant first payment with mandate** — Collect an Open Banking payment immediately while simultaneously setting up a Direct Debit mandate.
